Paying catch-up in broadband services once again, 3 Mobile has launched a prepaid option for its mobile broadband customers. Its offer of 12 months of internet will be a first in the Australian mobile broadband market, however.
As of the 12th of November, 3's customers will have the option to pre-purchase 12GB of data for AU$149 with a 365-day expiry period and without any additional contract. Depending on each customer's usage, this could equate to a full year's access to data services.
Other prepaid plans available through 3 include 500MB for AU$15, 2GB for AU$29 and 4GB for AU$49, all with 30 day expiry periods. On top of this expense, new customers will be required to purchase a compatible USB modem through 3 Mobile for AU$129.
Prepaid mobile broadband services are currently available through carriers Telstra and Optus, and through resellers.

Yes monthly broadband is OK ..BUT..If you fail to recharge whithin the month you get slogged with a $99 fee to log back on...so in effect you will be paying $30(or 15-50 ect) a month with no other choice but to avoid paying $99!

i actually bought one of these last night. i have thought for a very long time that this is an excellent idea and that they should have had these things on prepaid instead of contracts, mainly because MOST people have the net at home on a subscription, and to having to pay a second monthly bill for access that is most likely secondary and wont be used as much just seems a bit much. especially since one might not have such a consistant usage as a fixed location so you might go for a month without using it at all and then would still have to pay. ive been waiting for these companies to wake up and realize this...and it looks like FINALLY they have. so when i'm on the go and not near a wifi network i can still access the net, its data pricing is pretty decent and the speed shocked me considoring my bf has unwired and that is PATHETICALLY SLOW, costs more AAANDD you have to cart around a giant chunky ugly modem. im really very pleased with this so far. its cheap, comes in colours (though i'd have preferred black to be available in prepaid form too), and works on both win and osx. woot!

What is the download speed? In Singapore, download speed of 2MB cost $22 plus per month. Absolutely unlimited download...
