Acer Aspire One

The Acer Aspire One is better than most netbooks. It's fantastic for anyone who wants a small, cheap machine on which to type and surf the Web. However, its battery life lets it down slightly.

    • Bad: Bios issues, Lockups, Bad Acer support

    I bought 2 units for my kids who are in senior school. Between lost data, Bios updates to fix inherent problems, 3 return to base warranty repairs & massive delays for response I would not buy an ACER again. Both have these issues and when I requested a refund the response from ACER was we require 4 hardware failures before we'll consider it!! WHAT!! looks like I've got to wait 1 more time for one unit and 2 for the other. Hope they're still in warranty, or is that the idea.

    Light-Yes, but battery in ours has never charged,meaning that it is not truly portable.Returned to Acer for repair -needed the motherboard replaced. Result -the battery still will not charge, Acer knows that the battery is a problem, so why didn't they replace the battery? I was always an Acer fan-No longer and would not reccommend buying their products if this is the way they respond to a poor hardware design. You would think that they would try to correct the problem and not leave purchasers with the problem. They reported that the faulty unit "TESTED OK WITH TEST JIG BATTERY" but what about testing it with the original battery supplied? We are a community based organisation relying on donations making it un affordable to keep on replacing hardware.

    • Good: Lightweight, good keyboard, great for travel
    • Bad: built in mouse - but then that is a general dislike for me not just in the Acer Aspire one. Random rebooting.

    We have had our Acer Aspire one for about 6 weeks. It is great, lightweight and easy to travel with. I have read all your reviews and no one mentions our problem of constant and random rebooting of the machine. It happens without warning and if you haven't saved in the last 10 seconds you may have lost quite a lot of work. Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?

    I thought this was an okay netbook at first but then after being sick and in the hospital for 3 weeks, the battery went dead, and after that the computer wouldnt hold a charge anymore. there had to be a new BIOS version upload but if your out of softeare warranty they charge you over $100 an hour to fix it. I filed with Better Bus. Bureau and when ACER called me back told me they would NOT reimburse me for having to get the issue fixed and that they would be willing to fix anything for the service charge for tech support. this computer is only 8 months old. I will NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN and advise you not to either. Check into acer aspire one BIOS change for battery charge and see how many problems reported. they deny there was ever a problem....

    I just bought the latest acer aspire one. It s has 1Gb ram, 160Gb Harddisk, bluetooth and wireless network. Its very good even the battery is only 2hrs 45 mins. Great work acer.

    i am doing my coursework on open office and when i try to open it on another computer it does not work... how annoying!!!!
