AdvaTel PowerLine 85 Ethernet Adapter
By David Braue on 17 October 2006
AdvaTel’s PL85 delivers handsomely, providing plug-and-play home networking that’s faster to configure than a wireless LAN and support for any type of Ethernet device. For houses where WLAN signals are spotty or unpredictable, these units are an absolute lifesaver; for any other office or home environment, they’re just plain fantastic.

If you are not keen on WiFi then this is excellent - took 2 minutes to set up and I consider it to be one of the best gadgets I have!
- Good: So many pro's - my study, Media station and two home PC's connected to share all my data and Internet (Unwired) without WiFi
- Bad: Although I can use both Power Outlets at the same time - it is a tiny squeeze - suggest they make them 2mm slimmer!

Simple, affordable, superior to wireless in many situations
- Good: Delivers the claimed functionality in a sturdy, affordable and very easy to implement package. Absolutely no networking skills required. Superior perfomance compared to WLAN. Provides an excellent alternative when WLAN is not available or is unreliable.
- Bad: Unit is little larger than expected and can crowd out appliance number two when plugged into a double power point.
