Nic Healey can usually be found on a couch muttering about aspect ratios and 7.1 channel sound - which is helpful given that he's the home entertainment guy at CNET.

The switch to digital TV broadcasts has entered its final few days, with Sydney's analog signals being fully switched off tomorrow, 3 December.

That just leaves Melbourne plus remote central and eastern Australia — and those areas will be switched over on 10 December, completing Australia's transition to digital TV.

While we imagine most CNET readers are definitely ready for the switch, you can get more information about what you need to do on the Digital Ready site or by calling the Digital Ready Information Line on 1800 201 013.

Remember that Government assistance is available for some people to aid them in making the switch. You can check the eligibility requirements for yourself, friends or family here.
