Welcome to CNET Australia's App of the Day, where you can see some of the coolest, silliest and most useful apps in action.

Osmos is a weird kind of game. You control a jellyfish-like blob, moving around a vast blackness. Your aim is to absorb smaller blobs, while avoiding the bigger blobs that will absorb you. Each level has a different challenge: to become the biggest blob in the primordial pond, to absorb a particular mote that's actively working against you, to absorb as many blobs as you can while stuck in orbit around a solar mass. It's one of those magnificently zen gaming experiences, challenging yet peaceful and absorbing (cough) at the same time, with a simply beautiful soundtrack./p>
