Apple iPhone
By Kent German and Donald Bell on 02 July 2007
Despite some important missing features, a slow data network and call quality that doesn't always deliver, the Apple iPhone sets a new benchmark for an integrated mobile phone and MP3 player.

i have had a iPhone for about 5 months now.. and i love it.. altho i do occasionally miss txting with a "normal" phone, altho i can text alot fastwe with iPhone.. i have attempted to touch type with it and its a lil hard.. sometimes i get it and sometimes i dont :P, up the top of this page in the bad section it states :You have to sync the iPhone to manage music content , thats rubbish i can use manually manage music and video;s on my iPhone (e-mail me for a screenshot of iTunes showing the manually manage music and vid's ticked) the only bad thing with the wifi is when u have like 5 tabs open or you've been on safari for a whyle it stops working or u cant like move the page around for some unknown resion and after a whyle it'll get out of the internet and then u have to reload the pages.. the iPod works well but apple should have made it 40gb +,
- Good: multy touch display rules!!! actually the whole iPhone rules battery life is awesome to i can watch 2 full length movies on it with brightness on full and listen to about 2 hours of continual music.. and im currently at firmware v 1.1.1 planning on updating to v 1.1.3 on sunday :D
- Bad: iPhone gets really hot at the top of the phone... (when im putting movies and songs on it, or im on a call and iPhone is on the charger.. its nearly burning hot)

Hey does anyone know if you can set any songs from your itunes collection as your ringtone or if it has to be bought from the itunes store? Also, any idea when it MAY be coming to Australia? I think its ridiculour we have been waiting almost a year, i want it but soon my patience will run out...

Im not liking the sounds of the ringtones, i dont like to pay for stuff if i dont have to -_-
Sitting on the fence atm, waiting to get one to test at work.- Good: Seems to have good popularity so far. will be interesting to work with.
- Bad: no australian release date as far as i know.
the comment above about the bluetooth wasn't nice either.

I am just wondering if it will be a hit in Australia (as opposed to the craze displayed in North America) as we have LG Viewty and LG PRADA ? If it does not have NextG connection then the gamut of users will be most likely executives or MaC fans in metropolitan areas.

I actually HAVE one for about 4 months now, unlike (it seems) some of the other reviewers on here!!!
Seriously, though,in terms of convergence, there is NOTHING that brings together the Web browsing, Email, Music and Phone worlds than this device does!!
SURE, it's not PERFECT but it sure as hell comes closer to it than anything else there might be out there.
So, if you do have one, please feel free to comment.
If you don't, then go out there, find a mate who does, and use the phone for a week, then come back on here and give your opinion!!- Good: Texting is a BREEZE! You have to TRUST the keyboard. I can now touch type on this thing faster than anyone else I know!.
Web browsing on the iPhone has to be experience to be believed!! It is SEAMLESS, fast and completely intuitive!
BEST MUSIC player that Apple has ever put out!
The screen is almost SCRATCH PROOF (Search Youtube for some test videos)
Unlocked and jailbroken, the amount of applications that can be installed on this device and its potential and power are astounding!!!! SOME of the ones I have: internet radio, NES games, Instant Messaging etc etc
Could go ON & ON!!!!!
..and last but not least: It is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! So minimalist in its design, like slab of polished marble! A REAL conversation starter, and STYLISH without being gawdy!! - Bad: Some weird & puzzling ones:
Out of the box, it doesn't allow for forwarding of SMS and group SMS's (free 3rd party applications enable those functions though)
No video from the camera (again 3rd party app does that for you)
Texting punctuation on secondary screen can be frustrating at first.
That's about it!
- Good: Texting is a BREEZE! You have to TRUST the keyboard. I can now touch type on this thing faster than anyone else I know!.

This product belongs to the 'Major Gimmics' category. It provides features that most people will never use either because it is not necessary or because it is far too expensive: excell, wordprocessing, webbrowsing, itune etc. It does not support features that most people want: video, self portrait, multimedia message, voice dial, manual file transfer. It is reliant on iTune/sync therefore it does not support Linux. I actually have the device in my hand in Australia. The only useful feature remains is: telephone. A bit overpriced for a barefooted telephone with a 2MP, most simplistic still camera.
- Good: Good screen res, gesture recognition touch.
- Bad: No video recording, bluetooth doesn't work with my Motorolla, no Linux support and no manual file transfere makes it absolutly useless for Linux users, no real customised ringtones: you have to pay for itune songs to use them as ringtones -> product coupling.
