Apple Store opening on the Gold Coast

Queenslanders will finally have their own Apple store Mecca, with the opening of the first Apple retail store in the state on Saturday, 9 May at the Robina Town Centre.

It will be the fourth Australian retail outlet Apple has opened in Australia in the past year, following the hoopla of the showcase outlet on Sydney's George Street, and the more suburban fare at Sydney's Chatswood Chase and Melbourne's Chadstone shopping centres.

Gold Coast Apple shoppers will be able to access the store's free Wi-Fi and test drive the Mac, iPod and iPhone products on display or take part in the free hands-on workshops on offer.

The Apple Store Robina is located at Unit 4073, Robina Town Centre, Robina Town Centre Drive.

of this one at Chatswood Chase on Sydney's North Shore. (Credit: Pam Carroll/CBSi)

Too bad it is just a retail store and not a service centre. Apple warranties are not that good - because despite their "concern"for the environment they do not repair their units. A "highly recyclable"stainless steel back is still just landfill if ipods are replaced rather than repaired.
We should be pressuring apple to do more that just "greenwash"their products.

Apple always try to stick with the slightly better off areas (Chatswood on the North Shore etc). I'm not sure what the nicer areas of town are in brisbane, but Apple would have thought about it, a lot... And obviously the best place for their first Queensland store is here...

The store in Chatswood is also a very clever spot. The shopping centre has recently been renovated, and the store is located right next to what is one of the bigger entrances. You walk right past it to get to Coles, DJ's, the new foodcourt etc...

I'm from the Gold Coast and find it hard to believe myself!

However, the new Apple Store is strategically positioned between David Jones, which has just been entirely renovated, and the future Myer opening in Robina Town Centre in 2010. This is a premier location for a retail business on the Gold Coast, because there will be large numbers of customers frequenting the route between the major department stores. Robina Town Centre will set precedent on the Gold Coast by having both David Jones and Myer in one place, so it will attract unprecedented amounts of customers!

I don't think Apple has been able to find and secure a "premier" position in Brisbane, so they’re waiting. Given the economic climate, now’s not the time to take unavoidable risks.

PS. I was phoned on Monday and told my interview with Apple was successful, so I may just see you guys in the store soon, if you can't resist coming in to see it!

WTH IS IT NOT IN BRISBANE???!!!
Sure its nice to have 1 but still, a 2 hour drive from brisbane suburbs to there is just ridiculous! whats wrong with brisbane apple??????????

Why not Brisbane? Whack one in Queens Plaza, or the new Westfield Chermside extension. Perfect fit right there. I'm tired of seeing Macs in Dick Smiths and JB Hifis. They really need an atmosphere of their own. Who can't love the Apple store atmosphere? It's not so much a store as it is a hangout or an internet cafe. No pressure to buy, and you can come in time after time, and test out the products until you're ready to make a purchase.
