Apple Time Capsule (1TB)
By Rich Brown on 16 January 2008
Apple's hybrid 802.11n wireless router/networked hard drive offers some powerful data backup features for Mac owners, as well as Apple's typical pleasing design. Windows users and anyone who demands speed from their 802.11n network will be disappointed.
- Good: Clean design • Good deal for DraftN router and 500GB or 1TB of storage • Low maintenance data backup for Mac users • Extensibility via USB port •
- Bad: Only average networking performance • Few advanced storage features beyond backup capabilities •
- Specs: 1,000 GB • Serial ATA-300 • NAS Server • See more specifications
- RRP: AU$699.00

I use this to backup 3 Mac systems, and I love the Time Machine application, as it automatically and wirelessly backups all systems every hour. I share files between all systems over wireless N, along with the internet and my MFC (Samsung SCX-4216F) which works perfectly (apparently not all printers work, but mine does!)
I'm very happy with this unit, as it is easy to setup, use and just works! Combined with Time Machine, I get automated backup, a print server and full networking without having to perform any administration.
Highly recommended, despite the price tag - I guess this is another example of you get what you pay for!- Good: Easy to setup and use including print server, wireless backup and file sharing
- Bad: Runs a little hot, but a fair tradeoff for such a quiet unit

Can they support Multifunction printers (scan and fax) or just basic printers?

The NAS side of the current airport extreme is unreliable and slow. Lets how they get that worked out in this iteration

Nice work. A steep price but at least something that is nice to look at and works straight out of the box.
