Apple TV gets price cut
By Ty Pendlebury on 15 September 2009
While the net was abuzz last week in a flurry of iPod-related limb hurling, nothing much was said about the Apple TV. This is strange considering that last night the 160GB version got a price decrease to AU$329 (from AU$449), and the 40GB model was dropped altogether. It must have slipped Apple's mind.
Apple TV, like the iPod Classic, now comes in only one flavour: 160GB.

The Apple TV has been on the market for almost three years, kinda limping along despite a lack of ongoing fanfare, but has seen some improvements since we looked at it in 2007. Back then it was only 30GB and pretty well locked-down with a lack of downloadable content available.
Of course, the Apple TV is still hindered by the lack of DivX and XviD support, but at least you can now purchase movies and TV shows in HD with 5.1 surround sound.

Apple Tv is a very good product from Apple. I don't why they are neglecting it. They should incorporate cool features as done by Atv flash and ramp up the processor speed so that all new format large files can be played on Apple Tv.

Does anyone else think this an attempt of apple's to reduce shock to make way for the new apple tv. I think so. Bring on DivX support, yeah right.

Correction: Apple TV has never been 30GB, it was originally 40GB and then an additional 160GB model added.
