Apple unveils new Nano, slashes Shuffle to under AU$100
By Randolph Ramsay on 08 February 2006
Apple has expanded its Nano range of iPods with a new 1GB capacity model. The company has also cut its pricing on its iPod Shuffles.
The new 1GB iPod Nano has a retail price of AU$219. Apple's two Shuffle models have had their prices lowered as well - the 512MB is now AU$99 (from AU$149) and the 1GB Shuffle is now AU$149 (from AU$229).
The new 1GB iPod Nano is identical in size, weight and functionality to the 2GB and 4GB models, and also comes in either black or white. The 1GB Nano features the same 30-pin dock connector as the iPod and works with a wide range of over 2,000 accessories developed for iPod.
"Now everyone can afford an iPod nano, with our new 1GB model starting at just AU$219 RRP," said Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing. "The iPod is the world's most popular digital music player with over 40 million sold, and now even more music lovers can experience the unrivaled combination of iPod and iTunes."
