Aussie game charts: January 22-28

By Randolph Ramsay on 01 February 2007

The Aussie caravan to Outland shows no signs of abating, with The Burning Crusade -- World of Warcraft's first expansion pack -- the number one game Down Under for the second week in a row.

The Burning Crusade held off all comers to snare the top spot in Australia's game sales charts for the week of January 22 to 28, according to data trackers GfK Australia. The Wii's latest offering -- WarioWare: Smooth Moves -- had to make do with second spot in its debut week. The Xbox 360's Lost Planet slipped to third place, down one spot from last week's charts.

Gears of War continues to perform strongly, with the shooter planting itself in seventh spot on the overall sales charts. Mario's 2D antics in New Super Mario Bros. continues to be a strong seller for the Nintendo DS (eighth spot), while long-time charts stayer WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2007 for the PlayStation 2 looks like it's finally on the way out after just holding on to tenth place this week.
