Back in the good ol' days the tech world was ruled by geeks, so for something to succeed it had to have the most megahertz and, well, that's about it. Now that tech toys are everywhere and are a part of our daily lives, not only does something techy have to work quickly and well, it has to have a modicum of style to it.
For this round-up the editors at CNET Australia gathered 'round and chose the most fashionable item or two from each of our mobile phones, TVs, cameras and camcorders, computers and MP3 players categories. Just two rules. First was that they had to be really, really, ridiculously good looking. Secondly, they actually had to be good at what they did, they couldn't be objets d'art.
Ignoring the fact that they're no longer on sale, the first rule would have excluded faux-fashionable duffers like the D&G RAZR V3i and the RAZR2 V9 Ferrari Special Edition, both from the house of Motorola. While the second rule eliminates products where either the engineers were locked up in a room to play Pong for 12 months or the designers assumed they were technological equivalent of tailors on Saville Row; we're thinking of such inglorious wonders as the Apple TV, Motorola Aura and Nokia 8800.
