Best MP3-playing mobile phones

By Staff writers, CNET.com.au on 23 July 2009

Who wants to listen to train station or bus stop cacophony? If you want to take your music with you, then these nifty multimedia mobiles will do the trick.

To compile this list we determined a few music playing essentials that the phones must have. The first is a 3.5mm headphone port, which all the phones in this round-up include, with the exception of the Sony Ericsson models that feature a bundled 3.5mm headphone adapter. Having the option to use your own high-quality headphones is a must.

Equally important is memory for storing your tracks to. Most of these handsets feature internal storage, the iPhone 3GS and N97 include 32GB, while the other phones listed all support microSD memory card expansion and come bundled with a storage card.

Apple iPhone 3GS (32GB)

The iPhone 3GS is faster and we appreciate the new features and extended battery life, but call quality and 3G reception still need improvement.
