philips DVDR5520H is unreliable, lacks durability and is generally poor value. I was as surprised as you are! philips generally great but not with the DVDR5520H (160GB version)

dont go near the Beyonwiz.
the firmware is buggy, playback over network is dodgy at best, timers are pretty much random if they work or not.
its just a dog breakfast.
i finally had enough of ours and got a tivo after flogging the problem to someone else on ebay.
go read the beyondwiz forums for a list of issues

When is there going to be a PVR/DVR with the ability to have at least 2 Terabytes of Hard drive space with the ability to have to or so blueray/dvd slot in it as it could become crucial to how things operate as it could simply also have an intle core i7 processor in it an then think of what it could do also with it the abiltiy to play all forms of playstation, wii, pc and xbox games as that would be the best you of a box also that has the ability to have calbe as well as free to air as that would be a box that I would buy as it would really fell the void

Right, sounds cheap and nasty, but functional. I've ordered one, and I'll let you know how it works! I don't normally have a TV, but have borrowed one for the World Cup! (Tour de France is webcast, so laptop's fine for that...)

For the price Kogan PVR is great. It is very good in manner that you can use any HDD and USB to record. Good value for money.

Great price. Cheaper to get this and an external hard drive, than a PVR with built in HDD with much less memory!

For the price, this device is unbeatable. BYO storage is the way to go with HDD prices dropping so fast.

The price of this unit is unbeatable! Definitely has my vote. So easy to start recording with the USB port.

At $99 you can't really go wrong with the Kogan unit. I already have several HDD so I will just hook one of these up and start recording.
