Best Windows 7 laptops

Need a new laptop, but want to avoid Windows 8? Here's our favourite Windows 7 laptops so far.

Well, we say "so far", but admittedly, there's only one Windows 7 laptop left here in that labs to review, and it's unlikely we'll see many more before October 26, when some of the more enthusiastic vendors get their Windows 8 laptops across the line.

From what we've experienced, Windows 8 is rather clumsy without a touchscreen; so if you hold truck with neither swiping your monitor or coloured tiles, or react violently to the phrase "start screen", then here are the Windows 7 laptops that impressed us the most.

The Good
- Gorgeous 1600x900 PLS screen, Very slim and light, Good keyboard and touch pad
The Bad
- Only one USB 3.0 port, Adapters not included for micro video ports, Backlit keyboard needs to be brighter, Battery life could be improved, Touch-pad driver takes ages to load on first boot, meaning some functions aren't available for at least 30 seconds
