Beyonwiz DP-S1

The Beyonwiz DP-S1 is an ambitious device incorporating a PVR, DVD player, and streaming media but it's not yet ready for the big time.

Wholeheartedly disagree (except about the comments on the remote). Network play works fine, better than other boxes I've tried. Biggest bugbear is problem playing DVD while recording from TV.

And what about the bizzare comment that there is no easy way to record Foxtel and FTA TV which then mentions the Foxtel IQ in the next breath? Last time I checked my IQ was perfectly capable of recording all FTA channels (except 31) and Foxtel.

All up, a below par effort from CNet.

    • Good: Excellent true twin HD tuner PVR with upscaling DVD and media players inbuilt. Allows you to replace several boxes with one.
    • Bad: Future firmware upgrades required to play DVDs while recording TV and to move TV recordings to other devices. These are needed now.

Excellent device. Editors ratings are quite bizarre! Cramped remote? LOL. Buggy and prone to freezing? Not experienced such. Perhaps the Editor needs to learn how to set one up.
