BlackBerry 8700

By Asher Moses on 17 March 2006

The BlackBerry 8700 series is ideal for mobile professionals who require always-on e-mail access, but its cost and functionality won't be attractive to most non-business users.

    • Good: Email push/pull, speaker, voice, easy to use, Opens word attachments
    • Bad: Size, expensive, does not open spreadhseets and PowerPoints

Great 8703e!!!! This is my 3rd BB. I upgraded from the 7290 to 8703e. I like the look of the homescreen, phone and speaker clarity and phone style. Just wish that it was slimmer.

    • Good: Ultra fast email with 3G. Good keyboard and quick typing.
So simple to use and just so practical for business.
    • Bad: Very addictive! Cannnot go without it now!

There is nothing better for email on the move. If you travel and just need a solid relaible platform, then this is it

    • Good: works so well, good applications and system. Quite good looking as well.
    • Bad: A little big, but with a good case will replace your wallet.

Works so well and never seems to freeze like the old PDA I had. Found a like on this site to get great accessories for it and they weren’t lying, I got a Spanish hand made case, I almost don’t need a wallet anymore, have a look at them for yourself: blackberrydownunder.com.au

    • Good: *Email push and access (even web) is unparalleled (imo)
*Screen is brighter, crisper, and more durable ( I use a screen protector anyway) than anything else out there.
*Functions as a perfect extension of the MS Outlook suite, to include AIR sync'd contacts, emails, tasks and the like.
*Internet Surfing (all types, to include java and active x as well!)
    • Bad: *Third party software is naught compared to the true palm phones out there (but there are some..)
*The actual earpiece of the handset is tinny and inaudible in noisy places, though this is remedied by a mid-range blue tooth. shouldn't be a necessity though.
*I think that the government us using my blackberry to monitor my actions and influence my dreams.

-other than all of that, it is wonderful!

Exactly what it says it is

    • Good: qwerty keyboard, loud loudspeaker, MSN / IM, drop friendly, futuristic look, robust, excellent battery
    • Bad: in South Africa you have to register with BIS or BES to use the
GPRS/EDGE for applications, got external GPS, pairs perfectly cany find map software, no version of Mario bros

Phone targeted at a specific audiences - professional and/or the chatterbox type

    • Good: Fast email, i'd say close to instant. Great 3rd party games, clear screen, qwerty keys are fantastic, the battery could run my car i'm sure, easy to navigate. Keep the phone on and turn off radio during meetings, love it.
    • Bad: Won't work with a Macintosh & needs an SD memory slot.

I love the reliability of the 8700. My Nokia was always crashing, screen freezing and turning off. The 8700 is great and no conflicts between the included aplications. Camera's go out of date to quick so i'm not interested. Have my ipod for MP3 playback so don't need that in a phone.

    • Good: the potential to be better
      better than Nokia 3310
    • Bad: not as good as 3315

i hate this phone its the worst phone on the market

    • Good: Email push is very fast, Full Qwerty keyboard is easy to use, Bright crisp screen, Battery Life
    • Bad: No syncing of calendar over the air, No MP3 ringtones, No expandable memory, Limited applications and PC software

Great for getting emails whereever you are, Not so great for anything else

  • insipidphishie gave 10/10 on 30/10/2006 12:56

    • Good: Lightweight, ultra-responsive, flawless MS Exchange integration, great multi-tasking
    • Bad: Without Exchange, the device is relegated to the status of almost any other smartphone. Unfortunately short list of 3rd party applications.

Perfect (if paired with MS Exchange 2003)

Works flawlessly and instantaneously with MS Exchange 2003 - no plugging in or connecting via bluetooth to synch. Surprisingly lightweight and responsive. This device has revolutionized my response time and organization. Multi-tasking and stability trump Palm Treo 650 or Motorola Q any day.
