Are you concerned about radiation from your mobile phone penetrating your skull and turning your brain into a giant, cancerous tumour? Perhaps you just hate the way your phone gets hot after talking on it for 10 minutes. Either way, you'll probably be interested to hear about BlueSIM.
It's a fixed-line-style desk phone that uses Bluetooth connectivity to share your mobile phone bill with the BlueSIM handset. Simply pair the BlueSIM with your mobile, set it to auto-connect and every time you come within range of the BlueSIM it will take over the duty of making and receiving calls on your mobile. Once connected, BlueSIM can copy your contacts to the handset's memory and can even stream music stored on your phone via the A2DP stereo Bluetooth profile.
But at AU$299, the BlueSIM needs more than making and taking calls to prove its existence, after all your mobile phone can do that just fine. We sat down with BlueSIM creator Ton Duong who explained that the BlueSIM was designed to make phone calls at home or in the office more comfortable, and to distance phone users from any radiation that may be given off by during mobile phone use.
We should point out that the risk to humans caused by radiation emissions from mobile phones is extremely low (to the best of anyone's knowledge thus far), but there's no denying the dip in comfort experienced by anyone who uses a mobile phone for an extended period of time. We'll be assessing whether the BlueSIM provides an AU$299 increase in personal comfort while reviewing the unit over the coming weeks, so stay tuned for our results.
