The only thing i wasn't so happy about was that the phone number I got was to the nearest city which is about an hours drive. Overall I am happy with the service and so Is my hip pocket nerve.
Pros: Call costs are great compared to say telstra especially for STD calls
Cons: having another phone in the house is sometimes good

Unlike the standard phone line, your sound quality is entirely dependent on your ISP being quick and reliable with the data. I don't use Engin, but I just got a phone call from someone who does, and half of every second of the call was missing, making it very hard to understand. If you notice your connection speed fluctuating throughout the day, chances are you'll notice your phone calls suffering right along side it.
Pros: Cheap call costs. That's pretty much all it's good for. If you are the type who makes many local calls and/or frequent STD calls, it'll save you money
Pros: All you do to save money is go on the lowest rental plan with your current telco ( about $19 Telstra) and engin for $10 and you have calls anywhere for 10 cents untimed. And you don't have to have your computer on like skype. And you don't have to buy another phone. Couldn't be simpler.
Tried to activate on line and, after entering all the details, the summary page produced an error.
Rang service, they said try the web site activation again. Rang again, as the web entry appeared to be mafunctioning (city or state for address entry but not both) and beside, there appeared to be no option to have a phone number on the Gold Coast ..where I live and want to be. Got a helpful helper in support who said their web site was malfuntioning and took all my details for registration and activation but, its half a day later and I don't have an active service and have not received any communication yet regarding my registration. Went to Engin contact on line but, the support page won't display accurately (unless you make an entry in one of two unlabled radio buttons, after which the contact address and phone numbers appear).
Pros: I'm not sure, I bought the Voice Box yesterday and not yet been able to activate the account with Engin.
Cons: No service ...yet, 12 hours after purchasing the Voice Box.
dont know about the bad comments on here... saves me $12 a month on my telstra line rental and more on the calls... about 30/month total and I am a low end user... need fast internet but if you have it upgrade.
Also great that i just plug my home phone in and dont need to have my comp on to make calls. best, most innovative product around
I don't experience any drop-outs that some people mention. The service works fine for me (incoming and outgoing). Voicemail emails is a great idea and cheap cheap rate. No brainer!
Beware those who buy. the website, vendors nor the packageing state that a credit check is required for connection. No return email advising nil service granted and as past comments customer service wait times that remind me of Telstra when they were a monopoly
Be aware that there is no words on anything advising a credit check and that means a small drama for those of us who may have had minor troublrs in the past.
