More Canon reviews , RRP: AU$899.00

The good:

  • Fast focusing, long zoom lens
  • Solid image stabilisation
  • Decent low-light video
  • Aperture- and shutter-priority exposure modes

The bad:

  • Fair-to-middling video quality overall
  • Awkward navigation controls
  • Poor still photos

The bottomline:

A basic, inexpensive DVD camcorder, the Canon DC100 is a safe, if unremarkable, choice.

The manual is terrible, the terms in the book are not the same as on the camera. The finalization of the disc is a drama and I cant even find the yes button

Pros: Small and its cool looking, my wife gave it to me for the birthday, so I have to like it

Cons: Stupid strap and controls.

Pros: Initially appears straight forward and easy to use

Cons: Navigation controls are awkward
Picture quality is poor
Transfer to PC is problematic

Not very user friendly

Pros: Small

Cons: The manual is terrible and it's not an easy task to get video off of the camera to read on a computer.

The cool factor of waterproof gadgets is high, even when there's a subsequent trade-off in performance. Anyone going any deeper than snorkel depth will need to look elsewhere, but at least the price reflects the compromises made for that cheerily tough exterior.

The Sony Handycam DCR-SR45 has a good design and reasonable feature set for its price, but the video quality doesn't measure up to the rest of the package.
