Canon HV20
By Philip Ryan on 22 October 2007
Canon's HV20 camcorder is a great choice for HD-happy amateurs, but its low-light performance could have been better.

This is a little gem. Like other users have said it doesn't compare to high end or semi-pro cameras but for consumer grade it is fab. Also, for those getting into indie film making this should be your first port of call. On its own the camera is ace, but add a 35mm adapter and a couple of cheap Nikon lenses [and with 25p mode enabled] you won't believe the quality. This little set-up is even superior to the old XL2 rig and it's about half the price too.
- Good: HD Picture Quality
Sturdy Construction
25p Mode [Film Look]
Canon Reliability
Works great with a 35mm adapter
Headphone Input
External Mic Input
HDMI output - Bad: Way too many buttons
Average Low Light Performance
- Good: HD Picture Quality

Low light performance is GREAT if you switch to 25P. No, its not up there with 5000$ cameras, but it is still much much better than most cancorders I have seen. And you are recycling your reviews - you already reviewed this camera when it came out - which was a LONG time ago.
- Good: Great video!
- Bad: Price is almost twice that of the US. why are camcorders in Australia get such a high price tag??
