Canon Legria FS200

By Derek Fung on 06 January 2009

Come March, the FS200 will be the cheapest way to buy a Canon standard-def flash memory camcorder. For you money you'll get an effective recording resolution of 0.45 megapixels, 41x zoom lens and a 2.7-inch flip-out LCD screen, but no built-in memory.

    • Good: I don't know if there is any
    • Bad: Image quality is absolutely horrible

Unless the camera is faulty or I am missing something I could not understand what's wrong with it. The picture quality taken at even xp mode is dim, dull and pixelly. I was hoping the quality to be at least as good as the movie that my still camera Canon ixus80 shoots.

I bought it two days ago and I will try to return/exchange it - it's almost unfit for the purpose.

    • Good: Reasonable picture quailty
    • Bad: No AV input

I compared this model with several brands and had it demonstated in a store. The FS200 looked good but I found that the GZ-MS120 had alot more to offer. The image quality was almost identical but the JVC unit had AV input and 2 SD card slots (incase I need the memory later). I found that the GZ-MS120 also works on a mac as long as you use I-movie 08 or 09.I decided to go for the red one.
