Upside
The MP760 is the latest in Canon's line of Pixma printers, and furthers the 'functionality mixed with sleek design' concept the Pixma range is known for.

This new printer is another all in one offering that can print, scan and copy. One of its most innovative new features is the ability to make prints from your old film negatives without needing a PC as a bridge. All you need to do is place your 35mm film negative in a specially provided tray, place that in the cover of the MP760, and voila. The printer allows you to choose what you want to print via its 2.5" colour LCD screen, before automatically scanning in the image from the negative and making the print itself.

The MP760 features 2 picolitre FINE print-head technology, and prints up to 4800x1200 dpi resolution. PictBridge and Bubble Jet Direct compatible, the MP760 allows users to print true borderless digital photos at home or in the office without the need of a computer, on 6" x 4", 5" x 7" and A4 sizes.

The PIXMA MP760 has print speeds of up to 25 ppm black and 17 ppm colour. It has the ability to print double sided, and allows users to print directly onto printable surface CDs and DVDs.

As a copier, the printer can produce borderless copies on 6" x 4", 5" x 7" and A4 paper, at speeds of up to 25 cpm in black and 17 cpm in colour. A flatbed scanner/copier provides consumers high-resolution scanning and accurate colour reproduction with 2400 x 4800 dpi optical scanning resolution (9600 dpi optimised) and 48-bit colour input/24-bit colour output.

Downside
We can't wait to have an extended play of this new Pixma, but right off the bat it looks rather like a high tech esky. We know Canon is trying to make its Pixma range more stylish, but this still looks like a home office printer - just with nicer colours and a few curves thrown in for good measure.

Overall
Canon has packed in some great features with the Pixma MP760, particularly the ability to print directly from film negatives. The price of $499 is right, too, for something that offers so much functionality.

A great quick performer with lots of features.

I've been waiting to buy a colour photo printer and decided on this one as it is same $ and similar specs as IP6000D, yet has copying & scanning as well. The Index Sheet function is great - allows you to print an index sheet from card media, then from the index print select the print size, which pictures to print, numbers of copies of each, then wack the index sheet on the platenglass and hit the go button - so simple! Also has 2 paper trays, so you can use 1 for photo paper, and 1 for standard text printing. Its easy to use as well!
