- Good: Receives faxes properly.
- Bad: Can't print high quality brochures with photos
I've had HP printers for years...and one Epson. I was tired of troubleshooting HP software problems and needed a new All-In-One. Chose the Canon MX860 and right now I would like to take a sledge hammer to it.
Why can't I just select the quality of dpi that I want? This stupid machine constantly changes your "Print Quality" based on the "media" type that you choose. I have yet to find a media type that will let me choose the highest "Fine" quality. My brochures on heavy glossy HP presentation paper look like crap. I don't have the time or patience to manually adujust the intensity, contrast, etc. I just want super high quality so the photos on my brochures look good. In 15 years of printing...and I'm a Tech Writer by profession...I've NEVER had 1/10th the trouble I'm having with this piece of crap printer.
I don't want a printer that "automatically" sets the print quality to some unknown dpi level. I want to specify the dpi level myself. I'm hooking my HP back up. -

- Good: Awesome Print Quality, wireless and wired networking
- Bad: None so far
I had an HP printer prior to getting this one, the photo print quality can not be compared. I'd give the HP printer a negative number rating if I could. Either way, if you are not handy with printers it could be a little difficult to set up but I was able to get it going just fine and rather quick. Good printer overall, 10+ rating.

- Good: everything - wireless, auto-duplex and easy to set up
- Bad: haven't found any yet
I did a lot of reading and research before I bought this printer and it was hard to find thorough reviews on it, and almost as hard to find it in the stores!
I'm glad I went to the trouble though. I haven't found a flaw with it yet. I run a mac/pc network and setting up the wireless was a breeze all round. The auto-duplexing is great allows me to set margin widths and all sorts of other things, and I can scan from the printer to any of the puters on the network.
I'd always had Epson printers before and while the print quality on those were OK the print heads always clogged up and I wasted as much ink & paper cleaning them as I did printing! I'm hopefull the MX860 won't suffer from that so much as the thing is neatly enclosed with few places for dust to get in to affect the print heads.
The only minor (and for me it is very minor as I don't print massive quantities) is the relatively small print tray. For me it is fine, but I can see if you were doing a lot of printing/copying it could be a pain.
