The PowerShot SX130 IS won't set the world on fire with its standard specification set, but it might appeal to those photographers who prefer cameras with AA batteries.

In brief

Canon's PowerShot SX130 IS follows in the tradition of its previous mini-superzooms like the SX120 IS by being a pocketable 12x optical zoom camera. With a 12.1-megapixel sensor and HD movie recording, the SX130 IS doesn't really set itself apart too much from other cameras of its type. Indeed, the only real feature that sets it apart from other mini-superzooms is its use of AA batteries rather than Lithium-ion.

Other specifications include a 28mm wide-angle lens and an optical image stabiliser, plus full automatic modes and manual controls.

The SX130 will be available from September 2010 for AU$329.
