The xDrive35i version uses BMW's excellent 225 kilowatt twin-turbo 3.0-litre in-line six cylinder engine, although it doesn't give dramatic performance in a car that's broken through the two tonne barrier — for the record, it's 0-100km/h time is 6.7 seconds.
Another version of the X6, the xDrive35d, comes with a twin-turbo 3.0-litre diesel with 210kW of power and 580Nm of torque, and can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.9 seconds.
The petrol returns official fuel consumption figures of 12.1L/100km, while the diesel manages 9L/100km. X6s start going on sale this August with the petrol model retailing for AU$114,705, and the diesel going for AU$120,530.
