Poll: Rate Ford's FG Falcon

At the 2008 Melbourne Motor Show, Ford presented its upcoming Falcon to the public for the first time. We'd like show-goers to give us their opinion.

What do you think of the new Falcon?

Variants of the upcoming Falcon took up most of the space at Ford's stand at this year's Melbourne Motor Show. Models on display include the XR8 ute, XR6 turbo and "euro-style" G6E turbo. Not only will show attendees be able to ogle at the Ford's forthcoming large sedan, they'll also be able to test out its new rear doors -- no more head banging as you clamber aboard a taxi -- and push and prod all the interior bits.

Ford Performance Vehicles also put some of its hotted up FG Falcons on display, namely the turbo-charged six-cylinder F6 and the V8 GT. Interestingly, Ford has elected to showcase only its fast or luxurious Falcon models; the base XT sedan is conspicuous by its absence.

We're interested in what visitors to the Melbourne Motor Show thought of the new Falcon. This year's show runs until Monday 10 March at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

For the record, this journalist thinks the FG will improve Falcon sales markedly -- it wasn't even in the top 10 cars sold in January -- but it will still be battling for second spot with the Toyota Corolla, behind the Commodore. The speculated diesel engine and major export program, a la Holden selling the Commodore to Gulf States and the US, can't come soon enough.

Regarding the top 10 sales of vehicle in Australia. Dont be fooled by the corolla being in top spot, remember it costs much much less than a commodore. The total value of corolla sales wouldnt come close to the commodore which would include vehicles fetching over double the price.

What is it with Ford designs...they are soooooo ugly. They've never shaken the uglyness of the AU. This new version looks too much like the last. At least the Holden folks have been pushing their design. Sorry but the Falcon can't die off fast enough.

I was once a Holden man, but I turned to the dark side ever since I first drove the BA Falcon. Ford has gone another step infront on Holden with this sexy new design. I am fond of both Commodores and Falcons, and I can definately say the new FG Falcon looks much better than the VE Commodore. Let's wait and see how well the Ford does in the road tests.

As soon as ford places the Falcon badge on the ford Territory (As it is a falcon wagon on steriods) the falcon sales would be rivaling commodore figures!

The Corolla and the Yaris are both so over-rated it's almost a joke. The best value and best car in the small market is the Suzuki Swift. However, in the large car market, the new FG will reign supreme, based on it's fantastic looks, power, handling and prestige. The Toyota Aurion is just an Avalon with a different name plate, which is proven by it's extremely poor retail sales.
