Why a digital SLR?
Things used to be so much simpler in the world of film photography. Basically, for most of us, we had point-and-shoot cameras which were perfect for taking group photos and holiday happy snaps. Just pop in your film, zoom, focus, shoot and then develop. Simple.
For those who took their photography more seriously, we had SLRs which had all manner of manual controls, a bevy of different lens and accessories but also greater cost and weight, not to mention the joys of the darkroom.
Today, in the digital age, photography is everywhere — in our mobile phones and in our camcorders just to name a few. With entry level digital SLRs retailing for under AU$1000, more and more people are choosing to take the leap.
If you're curious about what the fuss is all about, or if you're seriously considering the leap, this guide is for you. We aim to demystify the differences between the different camera types, present the benefits and drawbacks of dSLR ownership, give you advice on how to make the most of a dSLR and help you choose a dSLR.

Excellent, well informed, thought provoking and written in a language that a novice can understand. It manages the impossible task of making sense of the madness that dSLR can be. I can't thank you enough. Keep it up.
