Spread Vegemite on a Weetbix, crack open a VB and proudly wrap the Australian flag around your shoulders like a cape before watching this video.

The CNET teams from around the globe have pooled their resources to bring you an exclusive intercontinental iPad speed test. In the video above, we collect data from San Francisco, London, Singapore and Sydney to see whose iPad data speeds reign supreme.

This, of course, was never going to be a truly fair fight, with the US being the only of the four regions involved to have a network that supports the 4G radios in Apple's new iPad. This didn't stop Telstra's Next G network from turning in a very solid performance in comparison. Also, keep an eye on the the Ping result in each of the tests. This is a really telling measurement of real-world network speed which is often overlooked in speed comparisons.

This video might even get even convince me to purchase the new iPad. I originally was planning on sourcing myself a used iPad 2 because of the lack of 4G in Australia, but now it turns out that Telstra's Next G network trumps the US's 4G network.

Wow... smoked by Telstra, that you tube buffering test is impressive, the other countries were not even a quarter of the way through!
Joe what did you do... did you setup a youtube mirror directly ported through Telstra .. on a Sunday

Good question. It actually felt like a standard load time to us. But then the US team asked us to confirm the results, saying it took them 2:30 to load the same clip over WIFI.

We laughed, tested again (same result), then laughed again.

Classic, ... and of course wifi from a dsl connection is going to be soooo much faster than a mobile network these days.

Watched the same vid on the US site... they have removed Eric's response to the youtube result! ... HA

When the ipad 2013 hopefully adds the 1800MHZ 4G band Telstra would destroy the other carriers in both tests.
