Sony Ericsson is chomping at the bit to get its Xperia Play Android smartphone into your hot little hands and has announced an enormous list of games which will be optimised for the handset's unique PlayStation-style controls in time for launch.

There are currently 71 titles in the list below, but this number is set to rise as Android gaming developers are at the keypad mapping code to their existing titles. There will also be exclusive PSOne games available, including Crash Bandicoot, which will be pre-installed on new Plays in Australia, along with Bruce Lee, FIFA 10, The Sims 3 and Star Battalion.

Perhaps the best news of all is that Xperia Play will be coming to all of Australia's major telcos simultaneously when it launches sometime in May/June 2011. Pricing for the handset will be announced by each of the carriers closer to this time.

Pretty good, but where is Final Fantasy, MegaMan?

Holy crap! PAC-MAN! UNO! Wow! I've never had a portable device that could play those games! hang on I'm forgetting my classic game boy, or even those single game $2 shop games.

Really most games on that list could be played on a watch, even with 3D graphics. Why even bother to mention them?

Yo Mumma posted a reply

Believe it or not, the list would nor be complete without them

Wow, tha's impressive . . . in my opinion anyway.
Makes me want one, but I'd still go with the NGP, for its much faster processing power. Will these games work on the NGP?

Will all the games feature Tropies? And e compatible with Minis?

No trophies at this stage, and Minis need to be ported by the developers, like Age of Zombies has been.

I see a distinct lack of Final Fantasy titles!
