  • Dell UltraSharp U2410

    20 Aug 2009 5:32 PM

The only way to get better quality than the Dell UltraSharp U2410 is to spend a lot more money — if you need a 24-inch, are on a budget but still need great quality images, we can wholeheartedly recommend this screen.

    Specs: 400 cd/m2, 1000 :1, 1920 x 1200 pixels, 24 inch, 6 ms

    HP 2309m

    19 Jun 2009 10:31 AM

At a price of AU$649, the 2309m is a decent buy. While it performs well, the blacks aren't as deep as we'd like, and we'd be more tempted to find something with a matte screen to cut down on reflections.

    Specs: 300 cd/m2, 1000 :1, 1920 x 1080 pixels, 23 inch, 3 ms

    Acer G24 LCD Monitor

    24 Jun 2009 3:53 PM

While its gaming performance is stellar, due to its ultra-glossy and reflective screen its viewing angle is unforgiving. It's also not the most ideal monitor for colour accuracy.

    Specs: 400 cd/m2, 1000 :1, 1920 x 1200 pixels, 24 inch, 2 ms

  • LaCie 319

    28 Sep 2005 1:26 PM

The LaCie 319 has excellent image quality, but its high price and advanced features make it an LCD that only real graphics pros should consider.

    Specs: 270 cd/m2, 600 :1, 1280 x 1024 pixels, 19 inch

  • ThinkVision C190

    08 Nov 2005 11:16 AM

The ThinkVision C190 offers good overall performance and streak-free images for gamers, but graphics pros should look for a monitor with more vivid colour.

    Specs: 1600 x 1200 pixels, 19 inch

    HP L1706

    21 Nov 2005 3:08 PM

In the L1706, HP offers an affordable flat panel with satisfactory image quality, but the display lacks any extra adjustability and inputs. The L1706 will serve office workers well, but other more-adjustable and better-performing monitors are available in the same price range.

    Specs: 300 cd/m2, 500 :1

    HP L1906

    03 Jan 2006 4:07 PM

The VGA-only HP L1906 is as functionally simple as LCDs get these days, and while there's nothing wrong with simplicity, other 19-inch LCDs offer more features and cost less.

    Specs: 250 cd/m2, 500 :1, 1280 x 1024 pixels, 19 inch

  • Samsung Syncmaster 204T

    31 Jan 2006 3:08 PM

We found nothing inherently wrong with the Samsung SyncMaster 204T, a 20-inch LCD with an attractive design, decent image quality, and useful software, but other monitors offer more features for the price.

    Specs: 25 cd/m2, 700 :1, 1600 x 1200 pixels, 20" inch, 16 ms

    ViewSonic VP930b

    06 Feb 2006 5:31 PM

The ViewSonic VP930b is incredibly adjustable and includes great business-oriented software, but its steep price warrants much better performance.

    Specs: 250 cd/m2, 1000 :1, 1280 x 1024 pixels, 19 inch, 8 ms

  • 6.9

    BenQ FP93V

    28 Apr 2006 1:53 PM

The 19-inch BenQ FP93V is our choice for style and performance on a budget.

    Specs: 270 cd/m2, 550 :1, 1280 x 1024 pixels, 19 inch, 8 ms
