Cracking open Apple's revamped iPod Nano

By Mark Kaelin on 10 October 2008

CNET Networks site TechRepublic runs a regular series called "Cracking Open" in which it takes a look inside a variety of gadgets. CNET.com.au is publishing this excerpt of a photo gallery that takes apart Apple's iPod Nano (fourth-generation).

Cracking Open iPod's from Apple is not for the faint of heart. We had already lost one iPod Nano to the Cracking Open process. Did the fourth-generation iPod Nano survive our prying? This iPod Nano from Apple is taller and thinner than the previous generation. The media player is also well-built and difficult to crack open, but that didn't stop us from trying — even if it meant sacrificing the device's ability to operate.

At least apple has fixed the lifespan problem. Way too many people have saved their ipods from the scrapheap with inexpensive aftermarket batteries. How dare they extend the life of the devices and steal from Apples bank accounts like that.
