The warm, earthy colours of sun slowly setting from wide open sky; mountainous peaks and the mighty Mekong River; a reflection of a slower, traditional pace of life within the heart of South East Asia.

Title: Early Morning Fisherman — Kerala Backwaters Southern India

Behind the scenes: I spent 14 days in January 2011 cycling Southern India with a group of cyclists mainly from the UK. We rode dirty, busy roads, dodged buses and traffic, cycled through tea plantations, struggled up a category 1 mountain climb only to glide down the other side in two hours without pedalling, witnessed religious festivals featuring the "prettiest" elephant contest, safari'd in nature parks, ate food from street vendors (with no repercussions), body surfed in the Arabian sea (wowing the locals as women just don't do that sort of thing) and the ultimate was spending a day and night on a boat idling the Kerala backwaters. The backwaters support fishing and team with life from people to birds; it's a photographer's paradise from sunrise to sunset. I'll never forget this cruise; it was a welcome change from the bike seat.

Behind the scenes: This photo was taken at sunset from our resort at Tanjung Rhu. It was just amazing to see such spectacular colours in the sky and how the water changed from crystal blue to this gorgeous blue-green. The islands you see in the distance is the coast of Thailand.

Behind the scenes: My favourite place in the world at my favourite time of the year! Everything was decorated beautifully for Christmas, including this Mickey Mouse garden out the front. So much thought and detail goes into it all! For me, the photo captures the exact feel of Christmastime; the colours, the excited atmosphere and the white, wintery northern hemisphere.

Title: Dripstone Cliffs

Behind the scenes: I was in Darwin for business and was doing some driving up the beautiful coastline (the weather this time of year is fantastic). I saw the Dripstone Cliffs in Casuarina and immediately stopped the car to take some photos of them.

Since it was low tide, I was able to go to the bottom of the cliffs and get a photo from the beach side. I wanted to get a photo that would show the cliffs and the weather on the day.

Behind the scenes: This was taken on the day that Coney Island officially re-opened for the summer. It was one of the coldest days of the year. The place was like a ghost town; the Ferris wheel carriages were empty, there was no line for cheesy hot dogs outside Nathan's, and no sound of running feet on the boardwalks. No one around. Except us.
