Creative Zen V Plus (2GB)
By Edvarcl Heng, CNET Asia on 12 September 2006
The Zen V Plus is an excellent little flash-based MP3 player that, despite its miniscule 2GB capacity, still manages to beat most of its peers hands down.

- Good: Can't figure out any, neat appearance maybe
- Bad: Buggy software and lots of it. Mainly folder management, clogs the PC unnecessarily, no real value. You don't really need to install it, but I was looking for the darn clock setup. No power supply, so can't recharge without a computer. Also USB hub won't do apparently. Price 2x or 3x greater than cheapo MP3 players with same value.
What a piece of junk! Spent the afternoon trying to set up the clock. Installed all the stupid software and no avail!
Yes, you can use calendar and organiser, but without being able to set the date and clock (?!)
I finally found the firmware update that added an option to do that. Looks like it was just missing from the menu. -

- Good: Wonderful player except (see cons)
- Bad: Joystick breaks very easily. (I was just laying in bed gently changing tracks when mine popped off and disappeared.)
I thought my Zen V was great...until the usual problem: the end of the joystick broke off! And Creative doesn't sell replacement ends that one could snap on at home (even tho they MUST know that many of these players are destroyed by this weakness). I could pay a $25 diagnostic fee, but according to Creative if the problem is damage to the exterior, I'm out of luck! I'm so angry that this otherwise very nice player is wrecked for the want of a tiny bit of fragile plastic.

- Good: - sound
- weight
- display
- menu
- radio
- just about everything... if it is not broken.... - Bad: - it comes with faulty firmware
- the knob is flimsy and tends to break
i love this player... now that it works. i actually had to replace it thrice. the first time, i had the problem most people have: it went comatose and had to be rebooted. the replacement had the exact same problem until i updated the firmware at creative.com. it did not crash ever since. BUT, then the main knob started to crack and eventually broke in half, dissappearing inside the player. bummer. i returned it to JB Hifi (who replaced it again without any hesitation. thumbs up!). the replacement i got was DOA: the knob was already cracked when i opened the box. now, i have my fourth (!!!) zen v plus and it never froze (after firmware update) and the knob is still intact. let's hope for the best.

- Good: Easy to use and easy to import media.
- Bad: The back/return button doesn't click as much as the play button. (Could be just me).
It's awesome.

- Good: bookmark;petite;functional;joystick;
- Bad: screen can't be seen outdoor
I use this mp3 mainly for listening audiobooks. Here and there I would change pace listening some music . I returned Ipod, Sansa and picked up this gem V plus by curiosity. If you can live with the stupid screen that can't be seen on outdoor, you will be in love with this mp3 : smallness, delightful sound, joyful stick, charming display and best of all the intimate touch feeling like you holding a silky, sensuos hand

- Good: Sleek Design and great quality
- Bad: Only problem is puttin video clips on it, anyones I have tried so far are not supported
I have the Pink one and love it, it is so colorful and the screen is fab! Easy to use and MUCH better than any iPod so far!

- Good: decent sound quality, easy to use, you don't have to use that damn iTunes program.
- Bad: slow transfer rate (slower than what i'd like) firewire would be great
This is way better than the iPod, I personally hate the iPod. The only thing i would change about this player is the joystick, it needs to be a little bigger, but it's definetly not a con.

- Good: Small and sexy
- Bad: Can't stand cold weather (batteries fail), sound drop-out during running or exercise
Fantastic little player, extremely lightweight and sleek.
