I bought this piece of crap about a year ago. All it gave me was trouble, trouble, trouble from the very first day. Both w/wireless and ethernet connection. I tried almost every firmware update I could find but this "router" just doesn't want to work properly. I still have major issues w/UDP package flooding, it keeps disconnecting. Combined w/my 2 D-Link wifi pci cards it's just a nightmare. Even the cards are crap and d-link's software causes blue screens. Never again d-link, never again I swear on my life!

    • Good: does everything a router needs to do
    • Bad: distsnce limitation

Have few issues, but apart from the norm i live in hot climate so expected to some degree. However with drop out issues in general once i set up to secure nework its not as bad as open network. Now and again it drops, but thats when kettle, washing macjine, and xxx of electrical equipment is running. but as they run via elcrical frequency unlike radios its not surprising!!

    • Good: none
    • Bad: horrible user interface; loses settings; unreliable power adapters.

Horrible product - I do not suggest anyone purchase d-link adsl products

    • Good: - wireless network connection
      - 54mpbs transfer rate
      - 4 ports router
      -
    • Bad: - recieve line drop outs and fluctuation of speeds unless you have upgraded the frimware. YOu need to download and upgrade the firmware for the device from the d-link site. remember, when installing, make sure you know your ip address (10.1.1.1) for your router and the password which is 'admin'

WARNING: WHEN INSTALLING THE NEW FIRMWARE, MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING A CABLE NETWORK CONNECTION AND NOT, I REPEAT, NOT WIRELESS. IT CAN REALLY FUDGE UP YOUR MODEM IF YOU INSTALL THE FIRMWARE WHILE USING WIRELESS NETWORK. AFTER YOU HAVE SUCESSFULLY INSTALLED IT YOU CAN USE WIRELESS

I bought this brand new a week ago. The internet web browser speeds keeps fluctuating, between slow and fast speeds and not maintaining a constant connection. After weeks talking to my isp provider, tpg, who said that it was because of my 10 metre phone cable, which had nothing to do with the fluctuation of speeds, I tried to resolve the issue myself. No thanks to them. I simply upgraded the firemware from V2.00B02 to the latest one : V2.00B07.AU_20060901
and everything when well. No problems now.

I purchased one of these units about 15months ago where it was working fine for 1month. After this period the modem started having major stability issues with the adsl connectivity which randomly dropped out and would sometimes take up to 2 hours to re-connect.
After installing the newest firmware and changing setting recommended by D-Link cusytomer support nothing changed at all.
The hours lost and total unreliability of this router has resulted in it now living somewhere in a garbage dump.

    • Good: Worked fairly consistently.
    • Bad: I too experienced loss of settings. It has occasionally lost my rules for Virtual Server settings several times and the time has resetted to Jan 1st a few times too.

Ive updated to firmware V2.00B06.AU_20060728 but still no luck.

To people asking why this product is now being reviewed after already being on the market for so long, this router has had a new release (with new firmware & brand new packaging) to emphasize ADSL2+ compatibility.

    • Good: Convenient all in one.
    • Bad: Issues with WLAN dropping out, loosing ADSL connections.

I too have had one of these for almost 2 years and never had a problem, but recently I bought a new one for someone in the family and did experience the install issues and the problems with it loosing memory, dropping out and WLAN not staying on. My first one was an ADSL1 version, the second is ADSL2+ capable, maybe this has something to do with it...?

    • Good: Very good price, cheaper than most other models, and has more features
    • Bad: Sometimes repeatedly drops the connection, so it might redial some like 20 times in one day, until you turn it off for a while

      Firewall is one SOB
keeps blocking outgoing traffic but ports can pretty easily be opened for said applications

its a pain to re setup though, as every so often the modem will lose custom settings

Extremely good for its price range, but not for anyone looking for extremely good performance on many workstations

    • Good: DLink console easy to use and configure Modem/Router
    • Bad: Following power outage, WLAN does not seem to come back up. In small home/office situations this is a pain in the butt! Need to re-connect using LAN, assign new SSID and restart AP.

    WLAN Problems following power outage
