Dell today announced a new retail partner in Australia, The Good Guys, complementing the company's existing partnership with Officeworks.
The partnership will put a range of Dell's consumer products including, laptops, desktops and monitors, in The Good Guy's stores nationally before Christmas.
In May this year, Dell announced its first retail partnership in Australia with retail giant Officeworks.
Evan Williams, general manager of consumer sales and marketing at Dell Australia, said the announcement reflected growth in Dell's consumer division.
"Dell is very serious about the consumer market. We have had a separate division going globally now for nearly two years," he said. "We are going to continue to bring out devices and solutions dedicated to that market."
Consumers enjoy the retail experience of a store, "they like to be able to come into a store and touch [devices] before they purchase them," said Williams.
Williams claimed Dell would not be announcing any new retail partners for some time. "We believe that we have got very good partners, and we are going to focus on them."
Despite lower economic growth in Australia, Williams said that Dell Australia had not seen a major downturn in consumer hardware sales.
"We're still seeing some very good momentum in our business, we are particularly seeing very good momentum across our mobile devices," he said. "That extends across our productivity devices, the 15.4-inch devices, and down into the mini notebooks."
Williams said that The Good Guys partnership reflected the company's changing focus. "Good Guys is looking to grow its IT category, and that's great coming to the market with this new [distribution] model."
