these are the best set of speakers ive ever owned... there loud, bassy and look great... before i bought these speakers i was trying to decide between the Z-2300 for $160 and the Z-5500 for $430... after buying the speakers they were easy to set up and i was suprised how good they went...

the only downside i did notice was when you turned them up real loud they would make a popping noise... and i would of liked them to go louder... but in saying this they are the best bang for your buck

a few weeks later one of my friends bought the Z-5500 and when i went to his house i was very dissapointed and glad i didnt spend the extra $250 for them... i didnt notice a big change in the loudness and bass compared to my Z-2300...

I LOVE THEM!

Pros:
-stylish and compact for the sound
-clear sound
-quite loud for the size of it
-bassy
-never distorts
-cheap

Cons:
-only 2.1ch
-could have more wattage
-made popping noise when volume up to loud

I've hooked the Z-2300 to a Sony Bravia LCD via the headphone port & everything movies, music, MTV,even the ads sound fantastic! For $200 it's unbelievable value.

Pros: Clear, punchy, lovely bass. Easy setup. Lots of power. Nothing under $500 comes close.

Cons: Fixed speaker cables. Bass more powerful than sats but can be adjusted.

Love the speakers, but I am having connectivity issues with the right speaker jack. Sometimes the right speaker works and sometimes not. If anyone has had similar issues please let me know how you fixed the problem.

Pros: Great sound for the price!

Cons: Reliability hit and miss as my right speaker only works part time.

My laptop has a standard 3.5mm stereo out port and a spdif optical digital out. I also have a sansa e280 mp3 player which of course has only the 3.5mm stereo out port. Can I plug both of these devices into the z2300 speakers? What I am really asking here is this: How many signal plugs does the z2300 come with? Thank you.

Pros: Hopefully one times sh%t load

Cons: Hopefully dot f%$k all

I got these bout 6months ago... At the time i was undecided between these and the Altec Lansing MX5021. Both systems are similarly priced, same configuration 2.1 (2 satellies and a subwoofer), both are THX certified, and made by well established companies.

But that's where the similarities stops. The logitech z2300 is made for its strong powerful bass, which can be overwhelming at time. Eg. when you listen to rock music, the acoustics of the guitar isn't very well produced. I guess that's due to the fact logitech only used one full-range driver per satellite. But if your into Bass Heavy music then you wouldn't mind the of poor trebles, and muddy mid-range. I've used the speakers for my ps2 and my computer and in most applications i've found there's more bass then my ears can handle. At half volume, with the sub volume at full it's enough to shake my living room and can hear the music outside the house!

The altec mx5021's although not as powerful (peak power 90RMS vs logitech's 200RMW) is much more refined. It has two full-range drivers and a tweeter per satellite. This make the unit more suited to rock music. The Highs are crisp and clear, the mids are clean and the lows aren't bad.

The altec's is engineered more like a mini high-end home theatre system, where power isn't its strong point but gives better overall performance.
The logitech is basically a powerful sub with 2 satellites with performance punching well above some of it's higher priced competitors.

At the end of the day, i would've walked away happy with either system. However, at the time of purchase the logitech were a snip at $185 fraction of the $299RRP while the altec were $299RRP and quite difficult to get. So the decision was quite easy for me in the end.

Note: when your buying speakers only way to tell what's better is to listen to it. Ultimately it's what your ears like best and stay within your budget of course.

Hope this helps

Pros: strong powerful bass, relatively cheap compared to other premium brands. Great bang for your buck =)

Cons: Can be boomy if turned too loud, unless you like it?! o_O Satellites poor at producing highs and mids. Bulky and heavy compared to rivals

Well sorry to disagree, the sound is terrible

The only way to review speakers is to compare to others. I compared these to Altec's new model the Mx5021, the Soundsticks from Harmon, Creatives I-Trigue and JBL's small speakers. Well clearly Creative and Altec have by far the best sattelites. The Logitech's sub is 2nd after Altec's outstanding accurate sub. JBL and Soundsticks both have very poor subwoofers which are weak and boomy. Altec's sattelites have 2 midrange drivers and a tweeter which are garatueed to work better than a single phase plug driver. All of my comparison is based on music on various songs. The Z-2300's sound is muddled when it comes to rock, very unlike the Altecs. The subwoofer is pretty good in ultra low frequencies (35hz) but at around 60hz it sounds a little boomy. Still if you like extreme boomy power and completely don't care about quality go for the Logitechs. If you like quality and balance go for the Altecs

Pros: The subwoofer is reasonably accurate, very powerful

Cons: Sattelites are terrible for the price- highs very unclear.
Poor crossover frequency- gap between subwoofer and sattilites

woofer that shakes your organs

Brentus is right, speakers are truly amaising, but I find it troubling that it has a single connector. On one side this is good for less demanding users but, i would like to separate the subwoofer sound and the front spekers sound, so i can use full 6 chanal mode on my video card. Well even as it is, it works perfectly
