At its launch event at Lady Elliot Island on the Great Barrier Reef, Panasonic announced seven new Lumix digital compact cameras due here in the next few months.
From the hero TZ15 and FX36 models to the lowliest, the AA-battery powered LS80, all of this year's Lumix cameras feature optical image stabilisation. All, except for the entry-level LS80, also feature the "intelligent auto" setting, which will select the most appropriate scene mode depending on the conditions.
TZ and FX series
The TZ15, TZ11 and FX36 all feature wide-angle lenses, with the FX36 sporting a lens wider than a kid's eyes in a candy store.

FS and LS series
The entry-level LS80 is the only camera in Panasonic's new 2008 range to be powered by disposable alkaline AA batteries, although rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries are available. All other cameras debuting here use rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
