I do not understand the meaning of WiFi classed as 'A', G or N. Is A + G better than plain 'A' or 'G'?

Okay I have mine working BUT alot of times it will not allow me to connect to Optus Cable as optus says it is unavailable or address misspelt. However, wireless connection is connected..... When I put the cable internet cable directly to one of my computers there is no problem. ANYONE KNOW why wifi will not allow you to connect to internet even though it says it is connected?????

The next step would be for other PCs in the home to connect via wireless, eachg has wireless access but I cannot connevt them to my wireless router: what do in have to do?
