At first i did hesitate to buy this dvd player.I'm glad i made the right choice.
Easy to use.
Easy to setup.(hook the HMDI in the LCD Tv plug in power point and you're set)
Quality? Well i did a difference in picture quality but you must play around with the setting. It's not quiet BLUE-RAY but it will do for me for $200.
Pros: Price!
Plays mulit region dvd's as well.
Very good picture quality out-put.
Must have Lcd or plasma for best result.
Cons: Can not fault YET.
Maybe it's me but it takes about 20 to 25 sec to load a disc.zzzzzzzzzzz
Besides that no problem.
3 faulty units in a row - what can I say? No resolution to the problems in sight. Try to speak to someone who can get past the policy and proceedures is near on impossible. Way worse than Telstra - on a par with Jetstar.
Pros: Probably good if you get one that works properly.
Cons: Its a Samsung, so you have to deal with them if you have problems.
I just bought this machine and I am very please with it.
The difference in quality to a 'regular' DVD player for the same sort of price is very noticeable and with a few minor adjustments it is hard to see how anyone can justify buying a Blu-Ray or HDVD at the kind of prices they are right now
Pros: Easy to set up
Looks Good
Anynet+ feature is good
HDMI cable is included
Cons: Upscaling is only available via the HDMI output - just so you know
Not region free, but the hack for the 860 might be worth a try - Or I'll just wait for someone to make a hack for the 1080p7
ahmm it comes with a free HDMI cable but it's not original HDMI cable. d picture quality is really good with d original HDMI cable and very sharp as well
I've been using an Onkyo player and a Denon player for years. Bought this 1080P7 to upconvert my collection. Always pays to read the instructions. My first movie played at regular def and I was thinking about taking the unit back because there was no difference in quality. Duh... Once I changed the resoultion, it looked awesome.
Pros: Price, definitely. Small footprint, and all the outputs a guy could want. The HDMI out and Optical out are perfect. Nice functional little remote.
Cons: The display is quite simple - the bare basics. No HDMI included.
just bought one of the OZ version 2 days ago and tried it, i can confirm it's not region free out of the box as it wont play my USA region one DVDs, otherwise i am quite pleased with it, it comes with a HDMI cable as well
Can anyone who has bought this yet let me know if it is region free out of the box ? ( not likely with samsung) or does a hack work on the player?
thank you.
Toshiba's XD-E500 provides a simple way to make humble DVDs look a bit better, but don't be fooled into thinking that it'll magically turn them into Blu-Ray discs.
Even the lowest-end notebooks on the market these days sport DVD-ROM drives, so why shouldn't you just plump for a notebook to meet your portable DVD watching needs?
Verbatim today announced the immediate availability of blank BD-R and BD-RW Blu-ray media, joining TDK and Sony as the three manufacturers shipping blank Blu-ray discs to Australia at this point in time. In contrast, HD-DVD blanks are still yet to arrive.
In an industry first, all of the commercial TV broadcasters have announced today they will provide an electronic program guide to all manufacturers of free-to-air personal video recorders and similar services.

I read somewhere that its indeed region free able, and the same hack that works for the 860 works for this one too.
Just ordered one. Lets hope it works.
