By Pam Carroll on 20/02/2008

More Sony reviews , RRP: AU$299.00

The good:

  • Handles DivX, MP3 and JPEG file formats as well as DVDs
  • Play files from USB port or disc drive
  • Accurate colours

The bad:

  • Image quality suffers from grid lines
  • Can only play DivX files from disc drive, not USB

The bottomline:

The FX720 has its limitations, but for the price, it does what it is designed to do well enough.

A good quality product that supports a wide amount of different formats including DivX

Pros: Good quality, good picture + the video in-out which make it very versitile. Works great to watch photos directly from my DSLR Nikon D80

Cons: Region locked, can't find any info on how to unlock it, how stupid is it to make a "travel DVD player" that you can't unlock? And the poor speaker sound.

A good quality product well made and easy to use.

Pros: Good picture quality, easy to use, good sound quality through headphones. Very useful USB input and Video in and out was actually the reason i bought it.

Cons: Very poor sound quality from speakers, in fact it is so bad that they cant be used. I initially thought it was a fault with my unit but when I tried the rest in the shop they were all just as bad.
There is no ability to manage the sound quality by way of equalisers or tone controls.
