About The Author

CNET Editor

Seamus Byrne is the Editor of CNET Australia. At other times he'll be found messing with apps, watching TV, building LEGO, and rolling dice. Usually at the same time.

Sir James Dyson gives CNET Australia a hands-on demonstration of the new Airblade Tap, and talks about the challenges behind great design.

In Australia for the launch of his new range of Airblade products, Dyson sat down with CNET Australia and spoke about evolution through prototyping, and finding the right moment to turn a prototype into a final product. And as someone regularly name checked as other people's design inspiration, who inspires Dyson?

I don't think the Japanese ones use the airblade though. They've actually had the system you described in Australia for many years too - my local park installed them in the early 2000s.

Too bad they already have had these kinds of sinks in Japan for a good few years now which not only wash your hands and then dry them for you, but initially dispense soap as well.
