Facebook lets you Look Back at your history

Lexy spent her formative years taking a lot of photos and dreaming in technicolour. Nothing much has changed now she's covering all things photography related for CNET.

To celebrate 10 years of the social network's existence, Facebook had generated a video for every one of its 1.23 billion members to say thanks.

Called Look Back, the automatically-generated video gives you a visual overview of your history on Facebook. It starts by displaying when you joined the social network and then surfaces your very first profile photo. The video also aggregates your most liked status updates, photos and important moments from your life on Facebook.

Although Facebook has issued reflective Year In Review content before, this is the first time that a video has been generated to highlight moments from your social networking past. Naturally, the video can be shared to your timeline if desired.

"It's been an amazing journey so far, and I'm so grateful to be a part of it," said Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a post.

"Today, social networks are mostly about sharing moments. In the next decade, they'll also help you answer questions and solve complex problems," he continued. "Today, we have only a few ways to share our experiences. In the next decade, technology will enable us to create many more ways to capture and communicate new kinds of experiences."
