The battery in the iPhone (or any iPod for that matter) must go through several charge cycles before it will be capable of filling to its maximum capacity... so please. hold onto it before you go crying back to your dealer for a refund.
I'm so appalled at all the incredibly poor reviews left by people on the user opinion page for the iPhone. I'm 110% positive most of them don't even own one and are simply trying to get attention by bagging the s**t out of something that has had so much hype. Particularly those comparing it to models such as the Samsung Omnia. I'm sorry but so far, no other phone maker has managed to create a user experience as rich as the iPhone. It might be crammed with a 5 megapixel camera but in my opinion phone cameras are still not quite good enough to match digital cameras anyway. Its unrealistic to expect a 5 megapixel camera module to fit inside the iPhone! get over it. Just try running apps that can match those available on the iPhone on the Omnia or any other so called 'rival'. Eventually other makers will catch up and create devices that can match the iPhone but for now it is obvious that this is yet to happen.
Im not some hardcore fan boy of the iPhone either. I'm just bewildered by some people's utter ignorance and stupidity. Especially those flooding the user opinion page with junk. -

You're absolutely right.
Yet many people including Cnet Australia are pushing that the iPhone 3G has "disappointing battery life" to quote Joseph Hanlon in his iPhone 3G review.
Luckily though the Cnet.com team has had the same experience as I with the iPhone. Except for video playback, which is worse than Apple claims, the iPhone 3G has good battery performance.

Music performance is substantially better than the Samsung Omnia, as is the iPhone's data transfer speed.
I can go 2 days between charges. That's with a lot of 3G and WiFi web browsing, iPod use, calls, game play, email... heaps of use.
For a 3G phone, the iPhone has good performance. For an iPod playing music, battery time is good.
The iPhone has short comings, but unless your using video a lot, battery life isn't one of them. -

It's annoying the hell outta me too.
I've left a couple of comments there, just to boost the score a little.
Some people are commenting two or three times with 1 point, what the!
I reckon all us who have the iPhone, and like it, should head to that page and bump the score up a bit, what do you reckon? -

Totally agree with you guys and I also assume that most of these people don't even own an Iphone let alone one of those so called "competitor" phones. For me, the main reason for actually being so keen to finally get my Iphone (and lining up for several hours in front of the Apple Store one early Saturday morning) was being an unhappy owner of one of the so-called Iphone "killers" the N95.
If you ever had to strugggle with this piece of s**t, you will fully appreciate what the Iphone is: A slick, well-designed device which might not do everything but at least what it does it does well. Internet browsing on there is such a pleasure that it fundamentally changes the idea of "mobile browsing" which had been a torture for most of the past. And it doesn't have unnecessary faults (at least none that drive me crazy) like changing to landscape mode and not changing back or opening up the slider in your pocket leading to unwanted calls to your ex-lovers. Don't laugh, try an N95 for a few days and experience it yourself: totally driving you mental that thing! -

i agree with most peoples sentiments that the iPhone is a great piece of tech. However i have had less the stellar battery life with my iPhone (have had it for about 2 months now). I normally have to charge it at the end of every day with about 6 or 7 hours of listed usage with a maximum of about 14 hours listed as the standby time.
Not a huge issue as i can recharge it all the time but i wonder if perhaps i got a dodge battery or something.
