Four pairs of portable wireless headphones
By Jasmine France on 03 May 2006
In the world of headphones, there are countless portable models and a quickly growing number of wireless models, but the marriage of the two is in the early stage.
Call it the honeymoon period, if you like -- only in this case, it's not such a happy time in the relationship. Rather, companies attempting to provide wire-free listening in portable applications are still testing the waters.
As such, we've yet to see many portable wireless headphones that offer the right combination of sound quality, comfort, and affordability, but at least some progress is being made. (After all, headphone manufacturers must know that there's a market for this type of product ... right?)
So far, we've reviewed four 'phones that fall into this new category, and rounded them up for you below. Know of a good product that didn't make the list? Use the "TalkBack" link below to send us your suggestion.
Logitech Wireless Headphones for MP3
Logitech's Wireless Headphones for MP3 eliminate annoying wire clutter.
Logitech Wireless Headphones for iPod
The innovative, Bluetooth-enabled Logitech Wireless Headphones for the iPod are a worthy upgrade for virtually any iPod owner.
Plantronics Pulsar 590A Bluetooth headset
Plantronics's Pulsar 590A Bluetooth headset is a great choice for mobile power users who don't want to sacrifice quality for convenience.
Creative CB2530 wireless headphones
If you're serious about music quality, Creative's CB2530 Bluetooth wireless headphones aren't for you. Although they eliminate pesky wires, they also suffer from lacklustre sound quality, frequent sound dropouts, and limited volume output.
