VHA today announces free calls between its customers on the Vodafone and 3 Mobile networks starting from 21 July. The free network-to-network calls will be available for customers on any new post-paid cap of at least AU$29 per month.

The move to initiate free member-to-member calling could be seen as the first sign of uniformity between the two networks since the VHA merger a year ago, though it won't be the company's only upcoming gesture to solidify its publicly unified image. Also on 21 July, 3 Mobile retail stores will be refit to look and act like Vodafone stores, selling the entire range of both Vodafone and 3 Mobile handsets and services. All Vodafone stores are set to undergo a makeover of sorts, but will continue to only sell Vodafone products.

VHA's latest post-paid caps were introduced on 11 March 2010, with pricing parity across the two networks, and matching cap inclusions and identical calling costs. Existing customers wishing to take advantage of the new network calls will need to transfer to one of these new caps.

Does this mean that 3 mobile customers will also be able to roam on Voda instead of Telstra soon ? Roaming data charges are #@$!!

What a shame you need to sign up to a new plan to get access. Not sure why they can't offer it on old plans that have free 3 to 3 for example
