Atari has jazzed up its local website, and now offers downloads for mobile phones such as java games and ring tones.

The relaunched website at www.atari.com.au also contains tonnes of information on current and existing Atari games. And for the first time ever, the site will feature Java versions of Atari's most popular games that can be downloaded to mobile phones. Games for download include Colin McRae Rally, King Of Fighters 3, Metal Slug Mobile and more. Backgounds, polyphonic and real ring tones will also be available for download.

Atari claims that with most of the site's content now being hosted locally, download times for Australian users should be shorter.

Members who join up with the site will also be able to buy PC games online that are not available in stores (including hard to find classics), and they will be able to try the game before they make the decision to purchase it and download the full version.
