Aussie gamers are obviously keen to emulate the Australian cricket team's routing of England in the recent Ashes series, with EA's Cricket 07 for the PS2 romping into number one position in the first game sales charts for 2007.

Cricket 07 knocked off WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 for the PS2 from the top spot, with the wrestling title slipping to fourth position in the sales charts for the week of January 1 to 7, according to data trackers GfK Australia. Sony's current-gen console had five representatives in the overall top 10; the Nintendo DS scored the next biggest haul with three entries.

Gears of War continued its strong run, and was once again the sole Xbox 360 title in the overall top 10. The Nintendo Wii's only representative of recent weeks--The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess--slipped out of the top 10 this week.
