Xbox 360 HD-DVD player: Compare prices

By David Carnoy and David Katzmaier on 28/12/2006

More reviews , RRP: AU$249.95

The good:

  • Less than a quarter of the price of today's stand-alone HD DVD players
  • Includes the Xbox 360 Universal remote
  • Disc-load times were half those of Toshiba's current HD DVD players
  • Two rear USB slots that let you connect USB peripherals

The bad:

  • doesn't offer HDMI connectivity, so there's no way to output your HD DVDs via HDMI for optimal video and audio quality
  • No 1080p output via component video

The bottomline:

While it doesn't offer HDMI connectivity, the Xbox 360 HD DVD player matches up well against stand-alone HD DVD players, and it's a relative bargain at AU$249.95.
