Why doesn't MS tell us the price of this thing? Its so frustrating. Its disappointing that there is no Wifi for the new xbox.

I think people keep forgetting that while the PS3 may have an additional 3 cores, it only has HALF of the video ram of the xbox 360. Add this to the fact that the HD DVD can be purchased seperately at a convenient time in the future (or rumour of a Blu-Ray drive if that format wins the war) and you end up with a machine that ultimately costs you far less and has better support here in Australia (ie the PS3 in Australia has a PS2 emulator instead of a full chip as it does in the states yet it costs more?!?). Add this to the new Xbox live community which will now allow the 200 million PC users to interact (and play games like halo with xbox users) and it just seems like heaven. I have been waiting since the 360 came out to purchase one, hear rumour of this machine and purposely delayed until it became a reality... I think it will be worth the wait.

its a nice idea, especially the 120gb hard drive, but i cant see the point of hdmi yet-reasons-there are no 360 games that are made in 1080p that i know of, so the hdmi's full benifit wont be realised yet, and to display 1080p you need a 1080p screen, and there arnt too many of those out yet. i'm waiting til it goes down in price before i even think of upgrading from my normal 360.

I think they should launch this console first instead of letting consumers getting the non-elite version. What about the people who has the old one. I think they should let us trade our old one for the new one. But it good news that they had fixed the temperature and changed the colour.

Godscend, So when they bring out a Series 2 car they should let you trade your old one in for a new one? Or how about that new TV that they release the next model for after you buy it? or even your graphics card that has a new version released just after you get it? I dont think you are being very rational in your argument... sounds more like you are just upset you went out and bought yours early. Thats the world we live in, the second you buy something, something better is already out there.

I've got another one for you. An Xbox 360 + Wireless adaptor + HD-DVD still costs LESS than a PS3. It also means that people who do not want wireless or a Hi Def device are not forced to buy one. If BluRay wins the format war, Microsoft have already said they would release a BluRay drive for the xbox. What will Sony do if they lose?

xbox 360 is more flexible proves it with the snap on hard drive and the usb high def its ready for war , versitility is key. the cheaper price the ability to upgrade and the deep pockets 360 brings to the table will crumble ps anything in time watch. yay my six axis control doesnt rumble and disconnects. yay a 60 gig hardrive that i can't replace or get an upgrade too. yay if blu ray fails i have dead cash sitting in my console that i can't replace or snap on an HD-DVD player too. i have 7 under fed cores memorie wise and my pipelines are tiny. and 7 controls that means i can divide my t.v. till ican see **** yay!!!

I can see where the ps3 has its ups and it downs but not every one can pull $700 out of their @$$ i mean come on lets be resinable ps3 is not that great its to EXPENSIVE alone on the other hand microsoft may have picked the most impectible timing to release the elite but come on its better then nothing and im sure if you had the time and money you could make it just as good as the elite or the ps3 the graphics are great just as it is if you were going for show and maby to impress i guess youd upgrade but im sure SONY was in it for the money and not for the entertainment of the people MICROSOFT has been making making entertainment systems for years and lisioning to the comments towards its systems im not saying they whernt in in the money for it to but i bet they didnt do it just for the pleasure of taking money out of peoples pockets it was just probubly conventiant but the games, hardware and the system and the all around total price WITH ACCESORIES makes it mor popular and more convientiant to buy while the Wii has more gmes to offer from previous years but all in all PS3 WILL NOT WIN because of popularity PS3A IS FOR PEOPLE WHO WANNA RUB IT IN PEOPLES FACES JUST BECAUSE ITS TH NEW THING. NO QUESTIONS

***yay a 60 gig hardrive that i can't replace or get an upgrade too. yay if blu ray fails i have dead cash sitting in my console that i can't replace or snap on an HD-DVD player too. i have 7 under fed cores memorie wise and my pipelines are tiny. and 7 controls that means i can divide my t.v. till ican see **** yay!!!*** Ok, you are a douche man, and like most people you need your facts straightend. Firstly the PS3's HDD "IS" replaceable, its just a stock standard 2.5" laptop harddrive in SATA. Second, even if BD fails (which if you know your facts isn't very likely, its more likely to be a stalemate) you still have a BD player for the disc's you have purchased. Also who is to say that you couldn't put a HDDVD external player on the PS3? you? ahh coz your an industry expert :) The X360 wasn't 'designed' for the external player either... Also the reason that the PS3 can take 7 controlers is down to the fact thats the 'bluetooth' standard for a host device. So its actually whatever controlers you have, plus the remote and/or a PSP and/or etc... And yes it is common knowlege that the 360's graphics card is top notch, but don't try to argue that the 360's cpu is better than the cell, it just proves your a fanboi jp777, the price didn't go down because M$ doesn't have any real price competition, so they did what every leading company does and are waiting it out, to gain that little bit extra ca$$ out of you. Just like Sony and every other company would do. Get your facts straight before you spew out crud, Alex

dude..gunther1916...i totally agree with u and i purchased the elite and it is great...i previously had a ps3 but returned it because they really went too far and decided to make it a 'media' type thing rather than wut the 360 did and does games AND media things...overall i totally recommend the 360 over the ps3 anyday

The elite simply provides an additional interface (HDMI) for higher resolution and comes with a larger hard drive (120GB) than the Pro version. Other than that everything else is the same. Reports are that the elite is heading to Australia in September but I haven't seen it confirmed yet and there is a Halo 3 version of the console (presumably the Pro) being released at that time

heavenly sword for ps3 was supposed to be amazing - i played the demo and yeah her hair seems to act like long hair in real life, but the game itself is less fun than watching long hair in real life, and slightly less realistic, oh yeah and costs $600!!!

Oh and Microsoft ISNT in it for the money?? Look at windows, Was Vista REALLY needed right now? But it costs a whole heap lol, and look PS3 has better backwards-compatibility with PS2 and even PS1! And what about the original xbox accesories? I have 4 controllers that I spent a whole bunch of money on and now I cant use them with the 360.. I reckon that kinda sucks

Microsoft has lost yet another avid 360 fan. I bought one in the early days, paid a hell of a lot of money and got a hell of a game system. I loved it, I praised it's abilities to all who'd let me. Loved the new games and the old ones that were compatible. They said it would be backwards compatible and it was, a bit. A while after I bought a PS3, once again I paid a hell of a lot of money and got a hell of a game system, Had some great new games and played my entire library of PS2 games. I got an online account for my 360 and paid 30 dollars a month to compete online, had a horrific ping rate of around 400 but it was still fun to play with friends and chat to them at the same time. I got the live camera but couldn't find anyone else with one and when I did I mostly wished I didn't. I created an online account for the PS3 and I didn't have to pay anything to compete in the same fashion as with the 360. Then I saw what we all dread, "The Red Ring Of Death". And that was it for the 360. I sent it away to be repaired and it returned in less than one week and worked as good as new. In the meantime I got myself and my boys PSP's which are absolutely without doubt the best handheld game system ever. If you don't believe me then you don't have one. The homebrew for them are amazing and its power has yet to disappoint us yet. It can also connect to the PS3 to play media that you have connected or stored in the system through the PSP. You can also connect via a wireless hotspot and connect to your PS3 at home and play your media through your PSP anywhere in the world. Unfortunately three months after it's repair my 360 broke once more. And again it was sent back and returned within a week. Working just fine, I learned of this Elite. Okay I thought, nice new colour, bigger hard drive. No big deal, still happy. But then I found out about the HDMI output on the ELITE and I was annoyed but understanding after all it is a newer system release. But then the news of the 'supposed repair' to the well known overheating problem killed me. They know there is a problem with them and as to yet accept no official responsibility for this error. I love my 360 but I'm switching to Sony for now. Also for those of you preaching facts and details, none of that means a damn thing if you don't enjoy the games. They are both truly amazing developments of our technological world and having either of them will make you a lucky person. Have fun or else.
